The Internet Falls for Deepfake of Trump Arrest
Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he will soon be arrested. Recent images of his supposed arrest went viral, but they turned out to be deep fakes - highly realistic images created by artificial intelligence.
Despite not being real, many people believed the images because of their convincing appearance. However, in reality, Trump is unlikely to be arrested as there is currently no evidence to support such a claim.
In response to these deep fakes, Twitter user Nick tweeted about how the use of AI to spread misinformation is terrifying. He suggested that we may see very convincing fake audio or video during the upcoming election.
Living in an environment where manipulated imagery and video are prevalent can lead to a lack of trust in information. This is especially concerning during an election where an informed electorate is necessary for a fair democratic process.
